Level 2

 SENIOR TEAM

Junior Olympic/Far Western qualifiers

(ages 13-18)

  • MEET ATTENDANCE- all eligible meets INCLUDING the Winter Zone Champs, one summer dual meet and July’s Champs

In this group, swimmers have made a commitment to swimming as the major focus of their athletic careers.  Training is more demanding in terms of volume and intensity and the maintenance of technique during the training.  Attendance is very important to avoid injury and to maximize performance improvements.  We integrate technique, development, and refinement while focusing on team building.  Senior swimmers attend all meets.

VARSITY TEAM

Advanced competitive swimmers

(ages 13-18)

  • MEET ATTENDANCE- all eligible meets INCLUDING the Winter Zone Champs, one summer dual meet and July’s Champs

The Varsity swimmers are ready for the “next” level in their sport.  They recognize the fact that swimming is hard work and are up for the challenge.  Training becomes more than just water time, as other areas of swimming are examined and we learn to use our minds AND our bodies together to achieve our goals.  Varsity swimmers attend all meets.

HIGH SCHOOL PREP TEAM

Intermediate competitive swimmers

(8th-12th grade)

  • MEET ATTENDANCE- no minimum requirement, but we'd love to see you as often as you are available to compete

The High School Prep swimmers are working towards steady improvement, increased endurance and having fun within their peer group.  Swimmers that are in the Gold, JV, JV+ levels but are in 8th-12th grade should swim in this group.  With up to six workouts a week to choose from, this group allows for swimmers to balance their academic, extracurricular and social commitments while still getting time in the pool!

 JV PLUS

Intermediate competitive swimmers

(ages 11-14)

  • MEET ATTENDANCE- minimum of one meet each quarter (every 3 months) INCLUDING the Winter Zone Champs, one summer dual meet and July’s Champs

The JV+ group is an introductory group to Varsity.  This group will practice with JV on all days except Friday, in which they will workout with Varsity. This group will focus on endurance and keeping correct stroke technique for extended periods of times. Individual goal-setting is emphasized and meet attendance is highly encouraged to move to the next level.

JUNIOR VARSITY

Intermediate competitive swimmers

(ages 10-14)

  • MEET ATTENDANCE- minimum of one meet each quarter (every 3 months) INCLUDING the Winter Zone Champs, one summer dual meet and July’s Champs

The JV group is intended to provide organized workouts in a mentored environment with participation in the social events.  The techniques learned in Race Team, are perfected in the JV group. Training intensity and volume increase as the skills are refined with an increased emphasis on performance times as a measure of improvement.  While JV swimmers work hard, this group still leaves room for other sports.  Meet attendance is highly encouraged to move to the next level.

GOLD GROUP

Advanced Novice swimmers

(ages 7-14)

  • MEET ATTENDANCE- minimum of one meet each quarter (every 3 months) INCLUDING the Winter Zone Champs, one summer dual meet and July’s Champs

The Gold Group focuses on endurance within a small group setting. The swimmers in this group work on building endurance through correct stroke mechanics as they share many of the same areas needing improvement. Meet attendance is highly encouraged to move to the next level.

RACE TEAM

Beginning and Intermediate swimmers

(ages 5-14, K-8th grade)

The RACE teams are a hybrid of a novice and intermediate level practice group.  The swimmers are learning more about their swimming, the team and how to put all the elements of strokes together to have a successful race.  Dual Meet participation is encouraged, “away meets” are available if your family schedule permits.  Meet attendance is highly encouraged if your YELLOW group swimmer would like to move to the next level.

If you are interested in joining this group, we'd love to meet your swimmer! Please schedule an evaluation with our office BEFORE registering into the program. Our coaches will perform the 5-10 minute assessment to determine proper group placement and then walk you through the registration process. Swimmers should be able to complete 25 yards of freestyle with side breathing, backstroke on their back, be comfortable in deep water and not need to touch the lanelines or wall to get across the 25 yard pool without stopping. Practices are MW or TTh (or M-Th) for 45 minutes.  Times vary each season.  See the registration page for current class times.

MEET ATTENDANCE- Race Team swimmers should attend at least one meet each session/quarter IF they would like to be eligible for consideration to move from the yellow group to Gold.  (But we do have many Race Team members that attend all meets and we LOVE it!)  If your Race Team swimmer (blue/yellow grouper) is not ready for the “away meets”, attending one of the Time Trials or Friday Night at the Races is a great way to learn how to compete!

  • Fall Race Team registration opens 7/1 for 8/28-11/16 swimming.
  • Winter Race Team registration opens 11/1 for December - February swimming
  • Spring Race Team registration opens 2/1 for March - May swimming
  • Summer Race Team registration opens 4/1 for June - July swimming

RACE TEAM SWIMMERS ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED IN THE NEXT SESSION.   YOU MUST CONTACT US TO HOLD YOUR SPOT!
